Ingredients
- Chicken: 2 lbs (900 g) chicken wings, split and tips removed
- Marinade: 1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk, 1 large egg, 1 tsp hot sauce (optional), 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp kosher salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Coating: 4 cups (120 g) Flamin’ Hot pretzels, crushed finely, 1/2 cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
- For Baking: 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil, for drizzling or spraying
Instructions
- Prep Oven & Rack:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Make Marinade:
- In a large bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add wings and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 15 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Prepare Coating:
- Place crushed Flamin’ Hot pretzels in a shallow bowl. Put flour in another small bowl.
- Dredge Wings:
- Remove each wing from marinade, dredge lightly in flour, then coat thoroughly in crushed pretzels.
- Arrange & Oil:
- Place wings on rack, drizzle or spray lightly with vegetable oil for extra crispiness.
- Bake:
- Bake 35–40 minutes, turning halfway, until wings are cooked through and crisp.
- Rest & Serve:
- Let wings rest 5 minutes before serving. Serve with ranch or blue cheese dip, if desired.
