Crispy bread, creamy mozzarella, tomato, and basil combine in this flavorful, melty grilled cheese.
# Components:
→ Bread & Dairy
01 - 4 slices sturdy sourdough or country-style bread
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
04 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
→ Vegetables & Herbs
05 - 1 ripe tomato, thinly sliced
06 - 8 fresh basil leaves
→ Sauces & Flavorings
07 - 3 tablespoons pizza sauce or marinara sauce
08 - 1 small garlic clove, halved
# Directions:
01 - Spread butter evenly over one side of each slice of bread. Rub the unbuttered side of two bread slices with the cut side of the garlic clove for added flavor.
02 - Arrange the two garlic-rubbed bread slices, unbuttered side up, on a work surface. Top each with half the mozzarella slices, tomato slices, pizza or marinara sauce, basil leaves, and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Cap each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
03 - Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place prepared sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, about 3 to 5 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula.
04 - Remove sandwiches from the skillet. Allow them to rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving hot.
